WHATSOEVER THINGS ARE OF GOOD REPORT

When I was growing up, report card was something children including myself dreaded. a report card revealed how consistent a child has been in school and also IQ level of the child. A good report brought kudos from everyone around.

People like to be told they are good. In fact in our world today, the answer to the greeting “How are you?” is, “I’m good”. But how true is that answer? If such a person has an opportunity to do a fellow man evil to advance his/her own selfish cause, can he/she resist the temptation? So stay good no matter what, let it not just be answer to a greeting.

The Bible says whatsoever is of good report, we should think on such. I say, do not just think, do! Jesus said it is not just the hearers of the word that will be blessed, but the doers. 

Phil 4:8 says ‘Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report, if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things’. 

This passage means, anything we do, when subjected to the ways of God, and tested by international standard value of bringing ultimate good to man, it should be a report that must be judged as GOOD.

However, to have a good report, especially with God, may sometimes mean going alone at the beginning. God’s ways are usually higher than mans’, and most of the time very less pleasing to ‘many others’. When an individual chooses to go/do things God's way, he/she can feel very alienated. Eventually, when the eyes of the ‘many others’ open up, or they come to a greater understanding, they cross over to the good report side, which is usually referred to as the narrow way. Learn how to accumulate extensive credit on good report with God, that is what you will need to PLEAD your case with Him, if need be as written in Is.43:26.

Good reports do not come easy, however the Holy Spirit makes it easy to achieve. He gives the strength to make it achievable. The power we have been given is actually for achievement as written in Acts 1: 8. It is not to be put on the shelf, talk or just sing about. The song:

'I am a chosen generation, called forth to show His excellence.

All I require for life, God has given me, I know who I am.

I’m walking in power, I’m walking in miracles

I live a life of favor, cos I know who I am'.  

will be tested.

If it is just a song, that is remains as logos in the head, the Christian will not be able to stand, talk less of overcoming in challenging situations. But if it has been converted to Rhema, it becomes powerful enough to make one an overcomer, so the person will come out on the other of trials and temptation according to the power that worketh in him/her-Eph 3:20.

Desire to have a good report no matter how lonely the road you are traversing may seem. You do not need a crowd to be justified,  approved and blessed by God. Just be sure God is on that road with you. After all, we all say it “One with God is majority”.
